ROCKFORD TENNIS UPDATE JANUARY 2013
The mission of Rockford Tennis is to develop a vibrant tennis community for Rockford area adults who enjoy the competitive and social aspects of the game. Indoors. Outdoors. All year through.
Since its founding in September 2006, Rockford Tennis offered year-round adult leagues and occassional one-day social events while growing its membership to more than 300 local adult tennis enthusiasts.
Rockford Tennis was a multi-purpose Community Tennis Association (CTA), registered with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and incorporated through the Illinois Secretary of State.
In the spring of 2012, founding director, Lisa Peterson Dunlap, took a sabatical to manage family affairs during the last months of her father's life. Ms. Dunlap hoped that active members would work together to sustain and manage the organization in her absence. That withstanding, Ms. Dunlap chose to retire from Rockford Tennis, for there is a time and a season for everything.
This website remains online to provide newcomers with general tennis information and to offer enthusiasts an online database of local players with and against whom to enjoy hitting the little yellow ball. Those who seek organized play should contact the Boylan Tennis Center, the Forest City Tennis Center and the Rockford Park District.
