| NORTHERN ILLINOIS TENNIS ASSOCIATION The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is divided into 17 sections. Illinois is in the Midwest section along with Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and portions of Kentucky and West Virginia. Each section is divided into districts and Rockford (Winnebago County) is in the Northern Illinois District. Other counties in the Northern Illinois District are Boone, Bureau, Carroll, DeKalb, Ford, Grundy, Henry, Iroquis, JoDavies, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, McHenry, Mercer, Olgle, Putnam, Stark, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will and Woodford. Rockford Tennis is registered with the Northern Illinois Tennis Association (NITA) as a Community Tennis Associaton (CTA). Geographic locations of other member organizations are on the NITA member map. NITA provides a direct relationship between Rockford Tennis and the USTA. This relationship qualifies Rockford Tennis to receive grant money, to purchase affordable group liability insurance, to gain assistance from regional USTA staff and to have a web presence on the USTA / Midwest / NITA website. Volunteer tennis enthusiasts work behind the scenes to ensure the success of NITA. They meet monthly via conference call, gather annually in November and attend the USTA/Midwest Annual Meeting in December.
