SATURDAY MORNING INVITATION-ONLY CO-ED HITTING GROUP
FOR NTRP 4.0+ PLAYERS (USTA 3.5+)
The Saturday morning co-ed hitting group is for men and women who compete at the NTRP 4.0 (USTA 3.5) skill level or higher.
Any person who plays at or above the skill level of 4.0 on the NTRP matrix may participate if invited and registered to play.
New players must be invited by a current member. NTRP 4.0 players who do not know a current member but want to be considered for membership may email the group coordinator, Vern Wanner, at vwwanner@nilsem.com.
To learn more, please visit the Saturday Morning Hitting Group Website.
Each week, Vern emails an invitation to those registered with the group. Players reply to Vern's email by logging in to the Saturday Morning Tennis Calendar before 5 p.m. Friday to indicate if they are playing that Saturday. Registering earlier than 5 p.m. Friday is preferred.
The 5 p.m. Friday deadline gives Vern time to recruit another player if there is an odd number of people registered to play. To help the group, members may register as a "Backup Player," meaning that they will come out to play that Saturday if needed. If no one registers as a backup player and Vern cannot recruit someone to play, one person will be asked to sit out.
The group plays at the Guilford Tennis Center from 10 a.m. noon.
If courts are not available at Guilford or if the weather is bad, another court location or cancellation notice will be posted on the Saturday Morning Tennis Calendar. Those with a smart phone or SMS enabled messaging may get last minute messages off the Rockford Tennis Twitter Page.
Participants take turns providing a new can of heavy duty hardcourt balls.
After warm-up, players draw cards for their first set court assignment. If the number of people who attend equals 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 or 30, everyone plays doubles. If not, two people play singles based upon card draw.
After all have finished playing their first set, cards are drawn again for the second set. Those who finish their set early continue playing until all courts are done. If time allows, a third set is played.
Those who participate in this Saturday morning hitting group pay $6 per year via PayPal to cover the cost of using CalendarWiz. Once your payment is received, Vern will email you the user name and password needed to log in to the Saturday Morning Tennis Calendar.
During the indoor season, the group plays at the Boylan Tennis Center.

This is a very responsible group of people who love to play competitive tennis. Those who refuse to use the online calendar, habitually fail to show-up after registering for Saturday morning play or fail to provide a new can of balls on a rotating basis will be removed from the group.
